This means that heat energy cannot be created or destroyed. It can, however, be transferred from one location to another and converted to and from other forms of energy. Thermodynamics is the branch of physics that deals with the relationships between heat and other forms of energy. In particular, it describes how thermal energy is converted to and from other forms of energy and how it affects matter. The fundamental principles of thermodynamics are expressed in four laws. “The First Law says that the internal energy of a system has to be equal to the work that is being done on the system, plus or minus the heat that flows in or out of the system and any other work that is done on the system,” said Saibal Mitra, a professor of physics at Missouri State University. “So, it’s a restatement of conservation of energy.” source : https://www.livescience.com/50881-first-law-thermodynamics.html source : hyperphysics 2 Share Share Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on LinkedIn Share on WhatsApp Priya 32 Questions 13 Answers 0 Best Answers 104 Points View Profile Priya Teacher 2020-03-14T04:21:03+05:30Replied to answer on March 14, 2020 at 4:21 am thank you! 0 Share Share Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on LinkedIn Share on WhatsApp Prakash 5 Questions 13 Answers 0 Best Answers 45 Points View Profile Prakash Beginner 2020-03-16T22:06:35+05:30Added an answer on March 16, 2020 at 10:06 pm The first law of thermodynamics is a version of the law of conservation of energy, adapted for thermodynamic processes, distinguishing two kinds of transfer of energy, as heat and as thermodynamic work, and relating them to a function of a body’s state, called Internal energy. source:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_law_of_thermodynamics 1 Share Share Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Share on LinkedIn Share on WhatsApp You must login to add an answer.
